Mark Brosas
Mark Brosas

We would like to say Farwell to Mark Brosas – Wellbeing Coordinator. Mark made many positive contributions to the wellbeing of students and staff during his time here. He led a number of programs and events which helped grow the culture of wellbeing at St Albans Secondary College, and on behalf of the staff and students, we would like to thank him for his contribution. He has left his position at the College, after a period of leave to pursue new endeavours.

Angelique joined the Wellbeing Team this year, and has made a valued contribution to the Team and to the Wellbeing of students, particularly during the challenge of online learning.

We wish Mark, George and Angelique all the very vest for their futures.

Mario Agius
Mario Agius

Mario Agius has announced his intention to retire after almost 40 years as an Instrumental Music Teacher in percussion and as a band coach. Mario commenced his career at what was then Footscray Technical School, before joining the St Albans Secondary College staff and Music Department in 1994. Like most I.M. teachers, he spends his week across a range of schools. Yet, his being here one day a week is not the sum total of his work with or connection to our school.

Mario has been an enthusiastic supporter of and participant in many MAC productions, including coaching and playing in the bands. His generous, collaborative approach to his work and his passion for music is also evident in his active involvement in many of our extracurricular programs, such as Year 12 Awards Night, end of year assemblies and concerts, Year 12 VET Music classes and other school events. So often, he has rearranged his working week to be available to support students and staff here, and we are so grateful for this.

Mario is a gifted Musician, and it is this, together with his qualities and talents as a teacher, that have enabled him to engender a love of music in his students, and to inspire them to pursue studies and careers in music and the music industry. There is no better legacy than this.

On behalf of the School Council, staff, students and our school community, we congratulate Mario on his contributions to government school education, in particular to St Albans Secondary College and to the music world well beyond schools; and we wish him all the very best for his future.

And finally....

After a momentous term, we wish each of you a safe and enjoyable time over the term break. Hopefully, you are able to spend some time together as a family. Among all the things we have learnt over the last three months, one is to appreciate and be really grateful for friends and family.

Please take some time to read your child’s Semester 1 reports, and to celebrate their achievements with them, and support them to look for areas for improvement. Your partnership with them on their learning is an essential part of their success.
