Invitation to Mid-Year SWOT Week

My name is Yashi and I am one of the SWOT Week coordinators for 2020. SWOT Week is a non-profit VCE revision program where high-achieving past graduates provide quality tutoring to high school students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Proudly sponsored by the University of Melbourne’s Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences (MDHS), our mission to combat educational inequity has been met with 22 years of success. The highly positive feedback each year echo the sentiments of those who have benefitted from this program.

This year, we would like to invite students from St Albans Secondary College to participate in SWOT Week.

Details are as follows:

  • Date: Monday 6th July - Friday 10th July, 2020
  • Time: Check the attached timetable for scheduled classes
  • Location: Off-campus (online), Zoom;
  • The different subjects will be running small online classes based on areas of study (AoS) according to the VCAA Unit 3 curriculum. The timetable also offers repeat sessions for those who are unable to attend a session earlier in the week. For more information, see the timetable and FAQs attached to this email below. For students wishing to register for multiple classes, please be wary of scheduled time to avoid class clashes.
  • Subjects offered at Units 3/4: English, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Psychology, Further Maths, Maths Methods, Specialist Maths, and LOTE (Chinese SL, Indonesian SL, Japanese SL, Italian, German, and French)
  • Price: FREE
  • How to register: Click this link or go to https://www.trybooking.com/BJUXJ

For more detailed instructions, please see the FAQ below.

SWOT Week tutors will provide comprehensive lectures accompanied by small-group workshops, giving students ample opportunity for engagement and support. Each session will run for approximately 90 to 120 minutes, depending on the subject and content. Additional resources, such as lecture notes and tutorial worksheets and answers, will also be available after each session. Students who cannot or do not wish to attend the Zoom classes can still receive these resources — there is an option within the registration link to be emailed the resources after SWOT Week.

SWOT Week is a valuable opportunity for students to receive guidance from the state’s top VCE graduates. We urge you to play your part in encouraging students to participate. Assembly announcements, home group meetings, bulletin and newspaper features, and emails; help spread the word to your students. We also recommend forwarding both the attached FAQ document and timetable to students as they contain important information about registration and key SWOT Week details.

Please do not hesitate to contact us via the emails below if you have any queries.

Thank you for your time. We look forward to hearing back from you.
