Classroom News & Student Awards

Senior Class

Welcome back Senior students and families!

It’s been so great seeing all the smiling faces and laughter back at school.  All of the students have definitely grown and changed during the online learning. Some are definitely starting to catch up to me in height (not that it’s to hard).

On Tuesday the students and staff engaged in team games and trivia challenges!  The balloon challenge definitely got some giggles and a whole body workout.

Mrs Pilgrim and I are so excited to have everyone back and we want to say thanks to all the parents for being so incredible and understanding during the crazy time!

Seniors PE Video

All filming of this video took place during our period of remote learning.  The students had a lot of fun putting this together.

Junior Class

The students in the Junior classroom have been writing prayers this week.  Here are a few:

Dear God ...

... have  a safe and warm home, and make people better and healthy

... I wish everyone has health

... people don't get sick

... please help people

... I wish for everyone to be healthy and kind

... help keep my family safe

... I pray to God to stop the virus

... I hope my family stays safe

... to keep our families safe

... I pray for doctors that are sick

... have a safe and warm home, to help people having coronavirus to get better

... I hope everyone gets better

... have a safe and warm home

... I pray to make people healthy

Amen

Reading Awards

At St Patrick’s School, all teachers set Reading as a homework task in all year levels.  At school teachers listen to your child read, record how he or she has read a book and then respond to this information by planning activities to meet his or her learning needs.  Teachers send books home so children will have valuable opportunities to practise what is taught at school.

Your child may have already read the book that is sent home and be able to tell you about it.  However, as with any developing skill, additional practice will help your child to improve.

We want to acknowledge the extra reading that children and families are doing at home, which is why we have set up the Home Reading Champions reward program.  All you have to do is record home reading into your child’s reading diary each day, including weekends if you wish.  Teachers will collate the results and certificates and prizes will be awarded at our weekly assembly.

Last Term we awarded certificates for the following students who had achieved 25 nights of reading: Thomas, Daniel, Jody, AJ, K'Lu Doh Soe, Sophie, Lexi, Nelson, Gu Thay Paw, Harmony, Kaw Mu, Riley, Marnie and Tyler.

This week we awarded the following reading rewards - 25 nights - Mia, Hanna, Claire and Nan Myint; 50 and 75 nights - Marnie.

Little Joey Award

Last term we awarded the Little Joey award to the following students - Tia, Ben, K'Lu Doh Soe, Nan Myint, Lexi, Marnie, Olivia and Tyler.  Now that we are all back at school we will continue to acknowledge the significant role of the "Brown Joeys" in the establishment of St Patrick's School by recognising the achievements of our students with the Little Joey award.  This week's winner is Jet who impressed our teachers by having a go and staying positive during our period of online learning, and being very helpful at school.  Congratulations Jet!
