Wellbeing

Dear parents,

The City of Port Phillip run various parent courses throughout the year and I thought that this online session may be of interest for some.

Online 'Positive Parenting' session

Parenting is both rewarding and challenging. Positive Parenting brings together the knowledge and the mindset necessary for parents to meet these challenges.

The session explores simple practical strategies to help parents raise happy, confident kids; set family routines and rules that everyone can follow; and balance work and family with less stress.

Caroline Ellen is a parent mentor, social worker and educator. She has spent more than ten years working with vulnerable children and mentoring foster carers in healing the impact of trauma. As an educator, she is committed to empowering children and parents.

This is an online session, hosted on WebEx. If you have any questions about WebEx please contact a member of our team at fycparentinfosessions@portphillip.vic.gov.au

This session is free of charge, and will comprise a 45 minute presentation and 30 minute Q&A.

Elwood College Tours

During March, April and May, we usually offer tours to prospective students and parents, prior to families submitting their transition forms.  With COVID-19, we had to stop tours.  While many families did get to visit us earlier in the year, we’re aware that many missed out.

We’ve made the Elwood College Virtual Tour as a substitute.  We know that students and families want to see what the school looks like and hear about what we have to offer.  Our website has recently been reviewed and updated to ensure the information is current.

It would be greatly appreciated if you would help us get the message out to promote the tour and website.  A message in your newsletter or usual form of communication with students and parents would really help us out.

If students or parents have any questions, they can email us at elwood.co@education.vic.gov.au or leave a phone message on 9531 9566.  We’ll make sure they get a message or call back to discuss Year 7 in 2021.

Our website has a link to the tour and information about the school and can found at this link: http://www.elwood.vic.edu.au/.

Thank you for your support,
