Invention Challenge

Students continued to develop their enterprise skills in the Makerspace unit by creating Inventions. The inventions students created were based on a school or home based problem. Students demonstrated their creativity and initiative in developing prototypes. Some of their ideas and prototypes are below.

Anxiety Angel by Charlotte Simpson

What is your final design?

I created a website that helps people who are struggling with anxiety. It is all about listening to your body. There are three days to choose from re-energize, restore, and relax. There are pages that help you to breathe, and to clear your mind. The days are full of fitness, some food ingredients, and there are deep breathing exercises, motivations, yoga runs and walks involved.

The Cord Expert by Tempey Nicholson

Is your invention realistic and achievable?

Yes. The light will work based on the temperature the cord is getting to. It is similar to a laminator light (switches green when hot enough), but the cord expert lights up when it notices the cord heats up. The label can be interchangeable so whatever cord is in that section, you can put the required label there. All cords should fit in the section given for it.

Emergency Housing Challenge

Students will be moving on to the Emergency Housing Challenge throughout the coming weeks and into Term 3. Students will become engineers, project managers and architects. They will be presenting their prototypes to other schools via ZOOM and receiving feedback on their designs.
