Principal News

Dear Sacred Heart Community

Some normality to these unusual times was restored on Tuesday, when our Year Prep and Year One/Two classes resumed their Term Two learning at school. Our staff were greeted with excited, smiling faces, as our students said goodbye to their parents and guardians and entered the school grounds for the first time in over eight weeks. Upon visiting the classes during the day, I was impressed with how our students were so quick to display their usual focus and application to their learning. All parents must take great credit for this, with the hard work you have done these past six weeks. Again I reiterate, on behalf of the staff, thank you. The recess and lunch periods were a hive of activity with all our students enjoying the opportunity to catch up with their friends and playing with each other with boundless energy. It has been so refreshing to have some of our students back. Sacred Heart School has been too quiet a place.

Our classes resuming on Tuesday and students taking extra care when washing their hands

In an effort to keep our Sacred Heart School community safe, we have increased the hours our school cleaners spend at our school. In accordance with the state government guidelines to which we must adhere, our cleaners are coming in each day at 11.00 am for an hour and a half to clean and disinfect our classrooms, and toilets. They are also disinfecting door handles and balustrading in the corridors. From the health advice we have all been given, we know the best habit for avoiding the COVID 19 virus is regular washing of the hands with soap and water. As our students were already in the habit of doing before the term break, they are washing their hands at regular intervals under the careful supervision of their teachers.

Thank you to all our parents and guardians this week, for following what is hopefully a short term protocol of not entering our school grounds of a morning and evening.

Before and After School Care

A reminder to our parents who use the after school care program, that the service is currently operating. Before school care will commence on Tuesday 9th June

Reports/Parent Teacher Interviews

Due to the disruptions this term to ourlearning programs at school, reports will be sent home in week three of next term. This time frame allows our teachers a greater opportunity to assess their students. Given that this semesters report has to pay respect to the "distance education" learning that the vast majority of our students have participated in, there is still a need for our teachers to have time to assess their students learning at school. Parent teacher interviews will be in week four of next term on Tuesday 4th August.
