Aboriginal Education Update.

NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July (first week of the school holidays) to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life.

The week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

Although some NAIDOC events have been postponed in the city due to COVID-19, here at Hampstead the staff and students will be celebrating it in week 10.

Students will be involved in a range of Aboriginal learning activities including traditional games, feather flower craft, art and dance, dreaming’s, bush tucker cooking. With many student led activities we will be exploring the Science behind tools such as the boomerang, participate in a smoking ceremony, and hold a special assembly and shared morning tea.

On Wednesday of Week 10 we are asking everyone to come dressed in Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander colours to get involved and show your support.

It will be a fantastic week!!
