Semester 1 Reports

Due to COVID-19 pandemic and the changes to learning that have occurred this semester, Bathurst Public School will adopt a revised approach to student assessment and reporting for Semester 1 2020.
The Semester 1 report will provide a summative account of student progress and achievement on learning covered during Semester 1, at school and at home, with information about what might need to be done to support your child’s learning growth. There will not be a grade using the five point A-E scale.
Most children worked from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This meant that although teachers supervised home learning, parents were the ones supporting them everyday in their learning. We believe parents have lots of information that is imperative to know and reflect on for the Semester 1 report. Therefore, classroom teachers will be contacting parents via phone from Tuesday 9th June-Friday 19th June to conduct Parent/Teacher conversations. These conversations will allow parents to speak to their child’s teacher about their child’s learning from home and at school, how they progressed, what support they required to complete work independently and issues they identified. Teachers will be able to inform parents on how their child has settled back into school, the data we have collected since the return to school on 25th May and what the learning goals for your child will be for next semester.
After these conversations, we will then provide a simplified written report to parents/carers about student learning in Semester 1.
Reports will be sent home with children on Friday 3rd July, 2020.
If you require an interpreter during your conversation, please contact the school and inform the office and this will be organised prior to the phone call with your child’s teacher.
