Term 2 - Week 6

School Athletics Information

This year we are having two separate school athletics events for our students. Grade 3-6 students will be participating in our Gr 3-6 Athletics Sports Carnival on Friday 16th June. The aim of this event is to give our Gr 3-6 students the opportunity to compete in a range of technical athletics events, with the top performers qualifying for the Catholic Athletics Carnival in Term 3.

Our F-2 students will be participating in a Tabloid Athletics Sports event, being held later in the year. The aim of this event is to expose our junior students to a range of modified athletics events, with the focus being on fun and participation. More information on both events to come.

Pupil Free Day

Pupil Free day - Monday 17th July.  The staff will be engaging in a Professional Development day with Toni Hatten-Roberts focusing on the learning and teaching in mathematics.

Staffing News

This term has seen a few changes on staff with Allira Holmes starting maternity leave and Sharee Whiteacre stepping into her role as Deputy Principal - Learning and Teaching/Pastoral Wellbeing.  This week Hayley Edwards joined Karlee Schade in Grade 1, replacing Sharee Whiteacre’s classroom responsibility.  Additionally at the start of term Keith Udale-Gordon took over the Grade 6 classroom, with Melinda Gibson taking some leave.

School Review

St Kilian’s School is undertaking a National School Improvement review this week with Di Pekin (ACER), Ashley Marsh (CES Ltd) and Dolly Gerges (CES Ltd).  The review looks at the nine domains of school improvement to support the school to develop our School Improvement Plan for the next five years.  Staff, students and parents have had conversations with the team to assist them in understanding more about St Kilian’s School.  Once completed staff will utilise the feedback to develop our next plan.

Sacramental Celebrations

This week we celebrate the students from St Kilian’s who will be receiving the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist. The Sacramental Masses will take place in the St Kilian’s Parish on Saturday evening and Sunday morning. We congratulate the candidates who will be receiving the Sacraments over the weekend and thank the parents of the candidates for their support and preparation during the Sacramental program.

Next week we have a number of students from Grades 6 who will represent the school in the Bendigo Region Soccer Championships. We have entered a boys and girls team for the event. We wish them all the best of luck and hope they enjoy the experience.
