Sorry Day Commemoration

On the 26th May, the Fire Carrier Leaders led the school in a commemoration service. We watched a clip explaining the history and meaning behind Sorry Day and prayed together as a school. Throughout Reconciliation week the students were involved in listening to stories and participating in activities to learn and acknowledge the culture of our First Nation People.

Eucharist Family Night - Our Eucharist Candidates were lucky enough to participate in a Family night led by Ang Virgona. The students and families were engaged and participated respectfully and reverently, learning more about the Sacrament and how they can follow in Jesus’ footsteps.

Communion Workshop Morning - Our Eucharist Candidates also participated in a Morning Workshop filled with activities to prepare them for their Sacrament.  Mr. Brendan facilitated a workshop reflecting on the Last Supper, Miss. Marion helped to prepare the students with the practicalities of Communion and Miss. Vanessa reflected on Pentecost and the students wrote a promise of how they can follow in Jesus’ footsteps.

Numeracy

Over the next two weeks our mathematical focus will be on Time. This week students have been immersed in Time activities which require them to be independent and collaborative learners.  As Time is a big part of our daily lives you can support your children at home by helping them to understand the language of Time and what it refers to. For example quarter to, quarter past,  half past, 5 minutes, 10 to, 12 hour time, 24 hour time, etc. If you have an analogue clock at home have your children practice telling you the time on the clock and then see if they can write it as digital time. Keep it light and have fun!

Literacy

Our writing focus until the end of Term is on sentence structure. Students have been working on developing and understanding simple sentences, compound sentences and complex sentences. Students have been immersed in activities to develop their sentence structure and provided opportunities to practice writing different sentences which will be displayed on our back wall for students to access and use to support their independent writing pieces.
