Faith Matters

at St Francis Xavier School

Dear St Francis Xavier Families,

First Communion Preparation

Within the next couple of weeks, about 15 of our students will be receiving their First Communion.

While much of their preparation has been within the classroom teaching program there are special experiences and learnings which are relevant to the sacramental candidates specifically.

Last week they participated in a meditative labyrinth walk during which they reflected upon special memories which were later discussed in the context of Jesus' words "Do this in memory of me."  Later that evening the children returned to school with a parent and enjoyed a Communion Evening facilitated by the wonderful Mr Ange. It was encouraging to hear the positive feedback from families who attended. Mr Ange has a very engaging way of connecting with his audience and helping us to experience faith in a creative and insightful manner.

Baptism Preparation

I have the privilege of facilitating the Baptism Preparation Meetings for the parish, a role which I really enjoy. It's wonderful to share in the enthusiasm and commitment of young families wishing to have their children welcomed into our Catholic community. This extends to our school students, several whom I have prepared over the last two years.  If you would like your child prepared for Baptism or are thinking about it and would like to chat, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me.  Preparation for our students involves two 40 minute after school sessions here on site.
