Saint Francis Xavier - Principal's Report

Term 2 - Week 7

Dear Parents and Friends of St Francis Xavier,

Thank you to the 30 families who have responded to the Prep-2 Swimming Survey that was sent out earlier in the week. Your feedback has already provided some wonderful discussion points for the School Advisory Group and staff to consider in regard to the potential implementation of swimming lessons in the junior school next year.

At this stage, the responses have demonstrated an overwhelming majority of families expressing a need for a swimming program to be introduced for the Prep-2 classes.

At our meeting next Thursday evening, the School Advisory Council will discuss the responses and make a recommendation in regard to the program. I will then discuss this with the teaching staff and make a final determination.

If you are yet to complete the survey but would like to, please click on the link below which will give you access. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

First Communion

On Sunday 18th June, 15 of our students will be receiving their First Communion. We extend our warmest congratulations to each and every one of them as they prepare to recieve the second sacrament of initiation in the Catholic Church.

As these students approach this blessed day, we commend their dedication, devotion, and eagerness to participate fully in the richness of our faith. May the love and grace of the Holy Eucharist fill your hearts and guide them on a path of compassion and service.

School Reports

Semester One reports will be made available to parents to access before the end of this Term. Please take the time to read through them with your child.  They will provide an insight to your child's learning achievements throughout the first half of 2023. As communicated earlier in the year, we have engaged a new company called nForma who will provide digital copies of student reports, rather than hard copies which has been our delivery method in the past. Log in details and instructions on how to access the reports will be provided to families in Week Nine.

Parent Teacher Interviews

I would just like to remind families that the second opportunity for formal Parent/Teacher interviews this year will not take place until Term Three.

While the school has traditionally held Parent/Teacher Interviews at the end of Term Two, this year we have decided to hold them toward the end of both Terms One and Three. With written reports sent home at the end of Term Two, we felt that this strategy  would be more effective in spacing out the formal opportunities to report on student academic progress throughout the year. The days for Term Three meetings will be communicated to all families early next term.

As always, if you need to contact your child's classroom teacher at any other time, please do so by either calling the school or sending them an email.

School Closure Days - Term 3

There will be one school closure day in Term 3.

  • Monday 24th July

As tomorrow (Friday June 9th) is a school closure day, I hope a wonderful long weekend and we look forward to welcoming students back to school on Tuesday 13th June.
