Principal's Report

 Principal’s Report 16th June

This term, we have continued to be a thriving learning community with many highlights.

World Environment Day

On June 5, 2023, we celebrated World Environment Day wearing our green items with great enthusiasm. The focus of this year's campaign was "Ecosystem Restoration" and reducing plastic pollution. Students actively participated in various eco-friendly activities creating awareness about environmental conservation. Our Sustainability captains also organised a special presentation for our school assembly and a whole school clean-up of our school environment. All classrooms ran activities to educate students about the importance of protecting our planet and promoting sustainable practices.

Run Club

Our Run Club continues to be a great success. We have seen an increasing number of participants over the past month. The club meets every Wednesday before school, and the students and school community are enjoying the opportunity to engage in physical activity and improve their fitness levels. We encourage all interested students and parents to join the club and experience the benefits of regular exercise.

A message from the organising staff:

A gathering of 91 individuals, comprising students, staff, and parents, surprises us with their remarkable turnout as they hit the oval, ready to take on a series of laps. Once again, we are pleasantly taken aback by the sight of over 91 enthusiastic students sprinting with fervour, surpassing all expectations and leaving us in awe.

Special Run Club Achievements notice: We applaud the young athletes who participated in the Cross Country event. Among the outstanding results, Brodie emerged as the boys' 9/10 champion in the highly competitive 2km category, earning a well-deserved ticket to the next level. Additionally, Madelyn showcased remarkable determination, securing an impressive 7th place in the girls' 11 category, covering a challenging 3km distance and earning a spot in the next stage. We extend our warmest congratulations to Kai, Devan, and Ash for their extraordinary effort and commitment throughout the race. Your dedication and perseverance are truly commendable. Keep up the fantastic work, and may your future endeavours be filled with continued success!

Reconciliation Week

From May 27 to June 3, 2023, Lyndhurst Primary School actively participated in Reconciliation Week. The week aimed to promote respectful relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians and build a greater understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. Reconciliation Week encourages all Australians to have reconciliation in our hearts, minds and actions as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Various activities were organised in our classrooms. These initiatives helped foster a sense of unity and respect among our students.

National Sorry Day

On May 26, 2023, we observed National Sorry Day, a significant day in Australia's history. Students engaged in discussions and activities to learn about the Stolen Generations, acknowledge the pain and suffering caused, and promote healing and reconciliation. We emphasized the importance of empathy and understanding towards those affected by past policies and practices.

National Simultaneous Story Day

Lyndhurst Primary School actively participated in National Simultaneous Story Day on May 24, 2023. This event promotes the joy of reading and storytelling while fostering a sense of community among schools nationwide.

Report Writing

Teachers have been diligently working on assessing and compiling student reports. These reports provide valuable insights into each student's progress and achievements throughout the semester. The reports are being finalised and will be sent home on June 22, 2023. We encourage parents to review these reports and discuss their child's academic progress with them.

As a leadership team, we would like to express our gratitude to all the staff, teachers, students, and parents for their active involvement, support and partnership in making learning @ Lyndhurst so successful. Together, we strive to create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all.

Cross Country

Congratulations to our Cross-Country team who represented our school in the Casey South Division event at Toomuc Reserve in Pakenham on 31st May. All of our students made us proud.  Brodie, Madelyn and Devan went on to represent our school at the regional level. Madelyn came 55th in the 11-year-old girls 3km race., Devan came 60th in the 9/10 boys 2km race and Brodie came 4th in the 9/10 boys 2km race. Amazing results at such a competitive level. Brodie will go on to represent us at the state level! Very exciting news!
