Year 1/2s

In Religion the Year 1/2s have been learning about Forgiveness and how it means we need to try our best to let go of anger or hurt feelings towards someone who has done something wrong. We have been learning that there are 4 steps of Reconciliation and forgiveness and we enjoyed sharing some of our short plays with each other and 1/2LM presented some at assembly. In Writing and Inquiry, we have been looking at how things change and understanding the difference between factual and fictional texts. For example, a fictional text is one that is made up like Cinderella or even a joke book. Factual texts are ones that contain real information and help us learn. For example, we have been reading a range of factual texts about animals like elephants, giraffes and gorillas. We have then been using the information about these animals to create short fact files and are now looking at composing longer information texts. Some facts we have learnt include:

  • Gorillas live in forests and mountains near trees. They are found in Africa.
  • Giraffes are herbivores which means they eat leaves. Giraffes live in grassy plains and in open woodlands in Africa.
  • Elephants are herbivores and eat grass, fruit, leaves, flowers and roots. They also enjoy eating bark.
  • Zebras live in small families which are called herds. They are herbivores. Zebras spend most of their time eating grass.

Italian Assembly:

Congratulations to all the students for putting on a great show for the parents and teachers.

We had students reading their independent writing pieces and our Q & A session.  We had junior school students singing and dancing on stage with the whole school joining in. The students did the sign of the cross in Italian and the birthday song in Italian!

Creative minds at work!

Bravi!!!!

Year 3/4

Last week we were busy with a special craft activity with for Mother's Day. We gathered beautiful  flowers from our garden and used them to create bookmarks to give our beautiful Mums. We hope all the Mothers and Grandmothers had a very special weekend.

Last term we made worked to make a 'Game of Life' board game with personal game cards made by each student. Recently we enjoyed playing the game in small groups and learning more about each other's

 identity.

                                                        CHRISTIAN MEDITATION in 3/4WS

We have also been participating in Christian Meditation each morning. The students prepare the sacred space with the orange cloth, some candles, statues and any other icons they like to include. The students sit silent for a few minutes each morning, gather their thoughts, slow down their breating, be fully present and focus on the word MARANATHA meaning Come Lord Jesus. Once the students have been still and silent for a few minutes ( we are now up to 4 minutes) they are then ready to begin their day in a calm and peaceful manner.
