Year 8 BEST

As part of their Project Based Learning task, students in Year 8 designed and conducted their own scientific investigation related to factors that affect the vital signs of the human body. They developed their own original question to investigate, considered the variables that need to be changed, measured and controlled, and followed the procedures for a scientific method. Students constructed tables to record their data and created graphs on Excel to highlight trends in their results.

Some of the investigation questions included:

  • Which type of exercise causes the biggest change in heart rate?
  • How does your blood pressure differ when watching your favourite AFL team win compared to watching them lose?
  • Is your heart rate effected by the type of music genre you listen to?
  • How does the temperature of drinks effect your body temperature?
