Rehearsals for our production Little Shop of Horrors are well under way. Cast have been very busy perfecting choreography, practising harmonies and producing some hilarious characters ready for opening night. This hilarious spoof of 1950s sci-fi features music in the styles of early 1960s rock and roll, doo-wop, and early Motown. This tuneful and enormously entertaining story of monsters (both vegetative and human) will make for a hilariously fun night – one that you don’t want to miss out on! Toby Gough recently attended the International Music Examination Board graduation ceremony in Sydney where he received his Licentiate Diploma of Speech and Drama (Teaching).
Toby has been studying speech and drama since he was 5 and started teaching at Encore Speech and Drama in 2021. The Licentiate Teacher’s Diploma is the final level of IMEB examinations for Speech and Drama (Teaching).
The Licentiate Diploma involved preparing a comprehensive program to teach students of various ages and abilities. Toby sat both a theory and practical examination where he was asked to demonstrate a deep understanding of teaching techniques and an ability to adapt to student needs.
Congratulations Toby on this wonderful achievement!
Students from Music 1 and 2 recently presented an informal concert for families and friends. Students from both classes performed a range of repertoire from rock to blues and classical music. Thanks to our wonderful accompanists Anne Stevens and Luke Moxey.
Saxophonists Anabelle van Wyk and Zimmy Levi recently took part in a workshop for saxophonists with Associate Professor Michael Duke from Sydney Conservatorium of Music. This workshop was a fabulous opportunity for our students to work with a world class educator. Our thanks to Orange Regional Conservatorium for providing this opportunity.
Our senior music classes will be presenting recitals of their performance repertoire this term. Please come along to support them.
