YR 9/10
What an exceptional day that was at Jack Brabham for the Western All Schools Touch Football event! Kinross Wolaroi displayed sensational skills and teamwork, securing victories in all four games before proceeding to the semi-finals against Canobolas High School. The match was a definite success, with Kinross Wolaroi emerging victorious with a score of 6-2.
In the grand final against James Sheahan, Kinross Wolaroi played their hearts out, but unfortunately, the game ended in a narrow defeat of 3-2. Nevertheless, the team performed remarkably well, demonstrating great cohesiveness, and all 14 players scored a try over the course of the six games which is a massive achievement.
A massive congratulations are in order for these outstanding girls as they now prepare for the All-Schools event in Sydney in August. They should be commended on their incredible talent and dedication and we wish them the best of luck in their upcoming games!

YR 7/8
Despite the chilly weather, it was an enjoyable day for all! The girls put on an outstanding performance and should be immensely proud of their efforts. Winning three out of their four games, they progressed to the semi-finals, where they faced their opponent in St. Matts Mudgee. Though the game ended in a defeat of 2-1, the team displayed remarkable sportsmanship, supporting each other throughout the match while still having fun.

Kinross Wolaroi sent eight students to participate in the NSWCIS Touch Football Carnival held in Penrith on 4-5 May. Among them were Charlie Miller, who represented AICES U15's, Katie Ivey, Lucy Robb, Lucy Carney, and Laura Chudleigh, who represented ISA U15's, and Amaya Shipp, Airlie Mason, and Lilly Clarke, who represented U18's ISA.
Charlie Miller achieved significant success, with AICES winning the U15's competition on the day. The U15's ISA girls came in second place, while the U18's ISA girls secured third place.
We extend a warm congratulations to Lucy Robb, Lucy Carney, and Lilly Clarke for being chosen as possibles and probables. We are particularly proud of Lilly Clarke & Lucy Carney, who earned a spot in the NSWCIS team that will head to the National Youth Championships in June. This is a tremendous achievement and a testament to their hard work and dedication.
AICES
Over the last week Kinross Wolaroi has had eight students compete for AICES at the NSWCIS championships. This is an excellent achievement to have this many players from the one school playing at that level.
On Tuesday 9 May, Phoebe Hunter, Sophie Luelf and Lucy Reidy represented the AICES U16 team at the NSWCIS championships. The girls played well on the day and were part of an AICES team that finished second on the day.
The opens girls played on Tuesday 16 May. Kinross Wolaroi had Taylah Hobbs, Phoebe Poole and Phoebe Smith represent the school at the NSW U18 Championships. Congratulations to all three girls who were part of an AICES team that finished the day as the NSWCIS champions. Well done to Taylah Hobbs who was named in the NSWCIS hockey team and Phoebe Smith who was named as a shadow.
Good luck to Charlie Tink and Harry Priest who represent AICES on Thursday at the NSWCIS U18 Boys championships.
KWS 1sts vs CYMS
KWS 1st Grade came up against a tough opponent on Sunday 14 May. With many of our girls attending the Western Conference Carnival on Sunday, we had many fresh faces welcomed to the team. The girls came up against Cyms 1st Grade. It took a couple of quarters to adjust to the format we wanted to play. We went down 7-1, however despite this loss, we progressed as the game went on, and held Cyms to 0-0 in the last quarter, which was a credit to the team's defence, their communication, and efforts. There were multiple Kinross Wolaroi1st grade debutants; Poss Lewis and Jessie Tudor. Congratulations to these girls. This was our final match before we select our 1st Grade team for the 2023 season.
KWS 76’ers vs KWS Spurs
On 5 May, the KWS 76’ers played KWS spurs. The friendly competition between the 2 Kinross teams created a good atmosphere from the sideline. There was a great improvement seen in this game as the team came together and helped one another out. Phoebe Johnston scored 2 goals and Minnie Whittle scored 1 to win the game against the Spurs 3-1. The team continues to improve throughout each training session and games as well as enjoying their time on the field with their mates. I look forward to continuing to watch this team advance and have fun throughout the season.
Congratulations to our largest ever Kinross Wolaroi Swim Team to Qualify for the National Age championships that took place on the Gold Coast over the School Holidays. Our team consisted of 13 Swim Club members who competed against Australia’s best age group athletes in a grueling seven day program consisting of heats & finals.
The team showed exceptional poise at the national level, with every swimmer coming away with at minimum a personal best. However the learnings taken from the national level will prove to be a valuable fuel source for the swim team as they continue along their journey. Huge shout out to coach Jane for her amazing work with the team while away. Your care & kindness is ever so appreciated.
It has been a big couple of weeks for our Rugby boys with a mixed bag of results. We bagged a heap of victories for our home fixtures against Sydney Grammar and then faced a tough day out with our Sydney road trip to Cranbrook. The lessons learned so far will hold us in good stead for the upcoming ISA Competition.
Last week the ISA U16 and Opens trials were held in Sydney. Our boys were well represented and trialled very well. Congratulations to the following boys who were selected;
ISA Opens - Luke Dominello, Shep Taylor and Jack Tink
ISA U16s - Abra Wilson, Oscar Cleary, Elijah Thaiday-Shin, Ollie Smith and Tom Day.
Our 1st XV and 2nd XV had a great joint session with our 15A's on Monday afternoon. It was brilliant to see the enthusiasm with which our boys worked together and shared knowledge. We look forward to the Opens working with the U14A's next Monday.
This Saturday we host Trinity Grammar School for a full set of fixtures at home. This is another opportunity for our boys to rip in, get some wins and improve their skills. We look forward to a big crowd all day and seeing our boys and their families supporting all games throughout the day.

Taylor Swift Song of the Game: The Great War
With an intense game against Hawks ending in a 49-23 loss, this game really could be described as a great war. A tricky start to the game ended with an 8-8 tie, however, a quick deterioration in the second half set us back a few points. The team stayed strong despite only having one sub. Nina Smedley held up the defence circle with some arm-stretching intercepts, Scarlett Mackenzie scored some mind-boggling goals, supported by Grace Adams and some great duo-work in the circle. With Mrs Gavin cheering us from the sidelines, the team played our first game back, with some brownies to celebrate the end.
