International Exchange

Recently, we welcomed five wonderful Year 10 students as part of our International Exchange Program. Representing Schule Schloss Salem is a young man from Germany who is enjoying his time with his generous host family. The South African contingent is made up of two students from St Anne’s and two students from Michaelhouse, all of whom are settling into life as boarding students.

After an eventful start, Nick Tancred and Ollie Krause are currently boarding at Schule Schloss Salem in Germany. As was expected, both young men are being tremendous ambassadors for their families, Kinross Wolaroi and Australia.

Our first group of French ambassadors, from Year 10, departed Sydney Airport two weeks ago. After spending a night in Dubai, they made their way to Lyon where they have been warmly welcomed into French host families for the term.

We have many Year 10 students from our school travelling internationally this year. From a cohort of exceptional students, we are very proud of those who will be representing Kinross Wolaroi at some of the finest schools in the world.

Kids Lit Quiz

Monday 8 May, 2023

We were all so excited on the bus to Bathurst and couldn’t stop chatting about the competition. The hall at the Assumption School was full of teams from many different schools around the Central West. There were 108 students in total. This year, Kinross Wolaroi entered three teams in the Central West Kids Lit Quiz, held in Bathurst on Monday 8 May, 2023.

Kids Lit is an annual literature quiz for students aged 10-13 years. Quizzes are held in many countries around the world. We were faced with 10 categories with 10 questions in each category so we had 100 questions to answer on the day.

Our Year 7 team got a perfect score in the first round which was on Animals in books. If only we had chosen that category or Blood and Bones for our double points round rather than Characters! The two Year 6 teams chose the topic of Book Knowledge for their double points round but the questions proved trickier than what they were expecting. I think they were wishing they had chosen Clocks as their hot category as that was their highest score. Each year the categories change.

We all worked well in our teams and it was exciting when we could work out an answer. We didn’t place in the top 3 but we all enjoyed the experience.
