Congratulations to all participants on Friday’s cross country and many thanks to staff for helping run such a wonderful afternoon for the children. Results of the top runners are below. However, what was most pleasing was seeing everyone give the course a crack, even when running may not be their favourite activity. Great courage and resilience were shown throughout the afternoon and this is a credit to the mindset of the children. It’s not always about the position you place but more about the sense of achievement that can be gained by completing something you thought was not possible. When Mr Tyack was a boy, he couldn’t lift a tin of tomatoes but with a bit of determination, courage and plenty of practice, last month he earned himself the monthly cross-fit champion at Red City Cross Fit (there are other gyms available).

When Miss Hazelton was at school, she didn’t like swimming, even said she swam like a rock, but just last week she was leading the staff in the KWS adult swim squad.

These are just two examples where determination and a mindset focused on improvement have aided performance. If you can’t do something now, just at the word ‘yet’ to the end of the sentence and soon you will achieve whatever it is you want.
