Structured Workplace Learning (SWL)

Congratulations to the VCE Vocational Major (VCE-VM) Year 12 and Year 11 students who undertook their first compulsory placement of Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) for 2023 during May and June Term 2. 

Here is just a snapshot of the 40 Year 12 and 40 Year 11 students who undertook a two-week Structured Workplace Learning experience during May and June as a part of their required VCE-VM studies. 

Young people need to have the opportunity to develop their ‘employability and work readiness skills’. There is no better way to do this than by having direct on the job work placement. Our students were able to work with employers and other employees having a taste of possible future careers and professions to pursue in the future. Taking an active role in the student’s learning, the VM teaching staff made a number of on-site visits, to gain insight into the practical experiences of their VM students and photos of on the job were taken.

VCE-VM Year 12 and Year 11 students will be undertaking their second Structured Workplace Learning block during term 3. Of course, some students will be working with employers from their first block while others will be seeking new industries and locations.
