Whole School Activities

Here at Rocky River PS, the students have been exposed to more than 50 words so far this Semester (although it's actually a greater number because Ms Hahn can't help sharing more when she comes back from her weekly online class). A list of the ones we have formally introduced is below, in case you want to ask your child to show you how to sign them for you.

Soon we will be learning numbers and colours, and then from next term, we'll be starting to put phrases together, something the students and staff are already experimenting with - it's an exciting time for all of us learning a new language.  Not a day goes by when a Rocky River student doesn't come up to me to ask for/show me a new sign.  If you want to find out the sign for a word, here is the best website to check (remembering we are learning the Northern Dialect if there's a choice):  "Signbank"    www.auslan.org.au

I have attached a link to an article (from 2020) if you are interested to read about why Auslan is being seen more on our TV's these days.

Life Education Van This Week

Once again the Life Education Van is visiting us this week. Our students are involved in a workshop for Lower Division and a separate workshop for our Upper Division students.

Lower Division - Safety Rules Workshop

Upper Division - Cybersafety Workshop

The school has paid for all students to attend as we feel this a a most worthwhile event. Please consider speaking with your children about their experiences in their lesson and discuss what strategies were presented to keep safe.
