Principal's Report

Balin Menzies RIP

Balin left a lasting impression on all of us at Greensborough College. He will be remembered for his infectious laughter, cheerful nature and big smile. Balin was a great friend to many, kind and generous to all. His passion for street art has inspired many and is a true reminder of him every day.  He will be deeply missed by the school community, yet our memories of him will be long lasting.

 Rest in Peace Balin Menzies.

New Staff

We have welcomed new staff into the College recently. They are:

  • Ash Stewart        Literacy Tutor
  • Nathan Ottery   VET Cookery
  • Kathy Elston       Instrumental Music
  • Charlie Le            IT Support

With the departure of Glenn Jenner, Angus McLean has taken on the role of Acting Assistant Principal and Harry O’Neil is the Year 12 Level Leader.

While Kathy Berg is on Long Service Leave, Laura Frazer will be the Sport Coordinator.

Joining us soon will be Ross Pearson, who will be teaching English and Humanities.

There are still some teaching vacancies and we are trying really hard to employ teachers.  You will be aware of the teacher shortages reported in the media, and this has affected Greensborough College.

We have lodged Permission to Teach applications to fast track teaching appointments. We have put in place measures for classes who have not had teachers including employing long-term Casual Replacement Teachers (CRTs), reorganising current teacher allotments to have some class sharing so that students have a regular teacher for some of the class allocation time, providing extra tutor support to classes and providing learning activities and tasks on COMPASS.

We have some vacancies in Education Support Roles in Re-engagement (attendance), Wellbeing and College Operations.  We hope to fill them shortly.

ANZAC DAY

The College was represented at the Watsonia RSL ANZAC Day parade and ceremony by the College Captains, Sarah Cairns, Chloe Grioli, Jack Commandeur and Ebony Stuart. They laid a beautiful wreath and participated in the proceedings. ANZAC Day reminds us to thank those who served (or who are serving) for their sacrifice, for what they gave up, to provide a brighter future for generations to come. It is fitting that our young leaders are part of these commemorative ceremonies.  “Lest we forget.”
