BEE DAY STALL
On Thursday 18th May, the BHS environmental captains ran a Bee Day Stall at lunchtime.
This stall was organized by the environmental captains to raise awareness for National Bee Day and to remind students that bees are an extremely important part of our ecosystem, pollinating 1 in every 3 foods that we consume. Due to pesticides, climate change and pollution, bee colonies have been struggling over the past few years. This stall was to raise money to help set up bee friendly habitats and to ensure the BHS community are aware of the importance of looking after the bees.
The stall sold honey joys, bee themed cupcakes, Anzac biscuits honey drop biscuits, chai tea, jars of local honey and handmade reusable bees wax wraps (made by Mackenzie Coles!). Students and staff were very supportive of the stall and helped raise $450 to help the bees and continue with sustainable projects at BHS.
A big thank you to Fyansford Honey for donating bees wax to make the reusable wraps. Go check them out for beautiful local honey and support our local bees!
