Principals Report

A reminder to parents that all students are expected to always wear the correct school uniform.  With the weather being a lot colder it is important that students have an appropriate Belmont High School top to wear to keep them warm.   If students are wearing an extra layer under their school top, this is not to be a hoody.  Uniform can be purchased at Bellarine Uniforms or through the Parents Association Shop that is open every Friday 8:30am – 9:30am here at BHS.  If you need additional support with uniform items please reach out to a member of House Leader team or Well-being team

Addams Family Production

I would like to take the opportunity to formally acknowledge the incredible performance that of our students last weekend with Belmont High School presenting the ‘The Addams Family Musical’. 6 Months of hard work and rehearsals culminated in a stage show wowed the audience. A special mention to Krista Mann for leading this project and to Rose Humphrey, Amy Jacka & Emma Moffat who all supported the students to achieve this amazing outcome.

Funding Announcement

I am delighted to confirm that in the recent 2023-2024 State Budget Belmont High School will share in the $24 million School Upgrade Delivery Fund. This will provide funding to begin planning and design work for the election commitment project announced last year of $11.2 million to deliver the next stage of your school’s master plan, including a new health teaching space and staff centre. The funding will also support upgrades for the science, technology, engineering, and maths building.

Year 9 Morrisby & Mock Interviews

Our Careers team have been busy supporting our Year 9’s with the Morrisby interviews last week and this week with a mock job interview. A big thank-you to the volunteers from the Rotary Club of Belmont for giving up their time to run the interviews. Students should come out of this process with a greater understanding around what their career path may look like.

Report Writing Day

Students will not be at school on Thursday 15th June, as staff have a designated report writing day.  Students who are completing a Unit 3-4 VCE subject are required at school to complete the General Achievement Test (GAT).  Families will receive a copy of their children’s report on the last day of term, this will be posted electronically via the COMPASS Portal at the end of Term.

Year 9 Strive Camp

Coming up in Week 8 our Year 9 students head off to Lady Northcote Discovery Camp for our annual Year 9 Strive Camp. This camp offers our students a great opportunity to explore their strengths and build a platform for their movement into the senior school. Thanks to all those staff for volunteering to make this opportunity available to our students.
