Meet Our College Captains

2023

Adam Butler, Sports Captain - Clyde North

What do you see as your role as a leader?

To help people in need and be a role model for people so they aspire to make the correct decisions and to uphold the R.O.C.K.S of the school.

What is one of the positives about being a student at St. Peter's College?

A positive about being a student at St. Peter’s College is the facilities that we have at thiscampus. These facilities let us grow into the fields we like and help nurture us into the people we are and who we want to be.

Who is the one person you admire most and why?

Lionel Messi is the person who I admire the most as when he was young he was told he was too short to play soccer and he had to have growth hormones injected into himself when he was 12 every night, Messi was also born into a poor family but he worked and played soccer everyday and he didn’t let his medical defect hinder him, as we all know how good Messi is and how much he had to overcome and keep pursuing his dream to play.

What are your goals as Captain in 2023?

Some of my goals have already been accomplished as we held the Dreamtime footy game,we opened a sports bin, I would say we have seen an increase in the amount of studentssigning up for SIS mainly in the junior year levels and we have held some in schoolcompetitions for charity or for house points. The only goal I have left is to make sure thatwe can keep up the good participation in SIS sports for the rest of the year.

2023 College Theme“Let your Light Shine” - Matthew 5:16How will you live this statement through your leadership role?

By being a voice for students when it comes to sports and their necessities and what theybelieve we can do better to help us help them be better. Personally for me it is trying tobe the best athlete I can be, and helping my teammates if it’s in a team sport or cheering on from the sidelines to help others light shine.

Hasrat Gill, Sports Captain - Clyde North

What do you see as your role as a leader?

Leadership for me is an opportunity to positively impact others. I see it as my chance to nurture and encourage other students in the school. Leadership requires me to epitomise servant leadership, share my passion for sports and also be a voice for my peers. I feel that as College Sports Captain it is my role to lead from the front in the sporting sector of our school by participating in sporting activities as well as providing students with encouragement and opportunities to participate in sport.

What is one of the positives about being a student at St. Peter's College?

St Peter's College provides many opportunities for all students to try and explore new things, whether that be in academics, sports, or the arts. St Peter's is also a very diverse College which allows us to learn about different cultures and celebrate and embrace our differences.

Who is the one person you admire most and why?

I definitely admire my parents the most. My mum is a strong woman who has nurtured me to be the person I am today. She's made many sacrifices to ensure I can pursue my dreams and without her guidance and support, I would not be where I am today. She really motivates me to work hard and chase my goals and also encourages me to be independent and strong in the face of adversity. My dad has also sacrificed many things to ensure my brother and I can fulfill our ambitions. He is also the spark that ignited my love for sport and has been one of my biggest supporters in fulfilling my dreams in cricket. My dad motivates me to be the best version of myself and work hard each and every day.

What are your goals as Captain in 2023?

As the 2023 female Sports Captain, I would like to promote sport throughout the school. It is a major goal of mine to increase the levels of female participation in sports as I have observed a decline over my time at the college. I would also like to promote a positive environment for students to participate in sports to the best of their ability.
