MacKillop House the winner in the closest fought out Athletics Carnival in living memory!!

A glorious day met an excited student body who was preparing to jump, throw and run their way to the ultimate Aths Carnival trophy for 2023. Following the series of 100-metre sprints there was a real turn-up for the books with the heavily favoured MacKillop and the 2022 champions Romero being slightly off the pace compared with the green machine of Assisi. During the course of the day, results started coming in from the various field events and from the long jump pit - it appeared that with each update of the results, Mr Broadley was announcing a different House had hit the lead.  Assisi was holding off a rampaging MacKillop as we led into the relays. Literally, the Aths Carnival was then to balance precariously on the very final relay with any of the three Houses being within striking distance. Ultimately the MacKillop House seniors were too strong in the relay and they tipped their lid to the finishing judge and with it a slice of history as the 2023 Athletics champions.

Although a modicum unlucky to give up the lead so late in the piece, Assisi had split their energies and while they were well and truly in the hunt for the overall champion House, they also had their eyes on continuing their record run of House Spirit Cups.

A great day was had by all those who attended this community-building event.

Lunchtime Concert for Catholic Education Week

In honour of Catholic Education Week a concert was held at lunchtime in the Florence Williams building. The event had a big turnout with many coming to watch the performances by Jayden Pollocks, Lovy Kaur, Bailey Dodd, Shyla Paynter, & Alyssa Livera. A special performance by Mr Lokuge, Miss Lyte, Ms McDonald and Miss Klajn finished the concert beautifully! The SRC would like to thank the performers for sharing their amazing musical talents with the students and teachers at St.Peter’s College and we hope to see many more performances like this throughout the year.

Have a happy Catholic Education Week!

Breakfast Club

If you are in on a Thursday morning and are feeling a little hungry please make your way across to the Donnelly building where our student leaders host Breakfast Club. Over the microphone in the podcast room, you'll hear interesting interviews and music while you sit back with friends and enjoy a hearty breakfast- the best way to start the day. A really great initiative on behalf of our Social Justice leader Miss Denise Tan, and the student leadership team supported with the gracious assistance of Ms Cathy King.

Year 10 Explore Food Project - or bribing teachers on the eve of exams??

As the year 10s prepare for their first set of exams, some feel the natural buzz of nerves in their stomach. This is a very natural, in fact healthy, response when facing challenges and helps us to be alert and to prepare to be our best. While some students choose to allow the tension to absorb them, others come to manage the feelings of discomfort and dis-ease. They realise that leaning into the challenge is part of growing resilience. And if all else fails you can follow the strategy of Ms Lang’s Year 10 Explored Food class who decided that feeding the staff a magnificent morning tea might be just the kind of bribery that will help them get that extra mark on their exams!

In all seriousness the food produced by this class was exceptional and there is very little doubt that we have some quality Masterchefs in the making.

A belated report on The significant Women’s Breakfast and a request for feedback from those who attended.

"The Significant Women's Breakfast, organised and run by the SRC, was a hit! The first breakfast St.Peter's has held in honour of Mother's Day was run on the 15th of May 2023. This celebration had a big turnout, the hall was filled to the brim with significant women and students. There were mounds of food catered by the canteen, speeches given by Sam Franks and other SRC members, mingling and many, many photos taken. The SRC really enjoyed organizing this event for the students and their significant women, we would like to thank all who attended the event and hope to see many more attendees next year! ~ SRC 2023"

Vale Tina Turner

The recent passing of the much-loved Tina Turner inspired some of the staff and students on the campus to spontaneously come together for a lunchtime rendition of the NutBush. The energy and sheer fun on the faces of staff and students alike were absolutely glorious - teachers modelling to the student body the courage to sometimes dance to the beat of a different drum.

Exciting travel news - a new direct bus service!

There is a new bus route that will be of use to of our students. The new bus route 863 will connect students living in Hallam, Hampton Park, Lynbrook, Lyndhurst and Cranbourne West directly to the Cranbourne West shops. You can find more information about the new route here and the full timetable here.

Until now, students traveling from those suburbs to our school needed to get two busses, one into Cranbourne central and then one out to Cranbourne West. This new direct route will make it one bus and much quicker.

Also, some info here https://www.casey.vic.gov.au/news/city-of-casey-welcomes-bus-network-improvements
