CAPTAIN'S CORNER

YEAR 12 STUDENT INSIGHT

The Year 12s have had a great start to the year, everyone is getting along with each other and participating in the many senior events such as house basketball games and using the new snooker tables in the MERC symposium.

We are also all making good use of the privileges that come with being in Year 12. Access to the silent and group study rooms, being able to go to 7/11 and McKinnon Reserve during lunch and use of the common room, to name a few.

The amenities provided in the common room are quite a luxury, which is not being left for granted. There's often a queue to use the toastie machines and the microwaves at the start of lunch. Even the toastie machines have started to be used to make pancakes for anyone who wants one on Wednesday mornings, how charitable.

Despite being separated for the past two years there is a real sense of community and culture within the current Year 12s. I am looking forward to making the most of my final year of schooling with such a friendly year level.

JUNIOR SCHOOL COUNCIL - SEEKING YOUR SUGGESTIONS

The McKinnon East Campus is amazing, with thriving halls, brand-new facilities and amazing spaces. There’s no doubt about how much each student is appreciating it. But with a brand-new building of course there comes room for improvement.

Perhaps you want more Chromebook chargers in classrooms, to avoid the dreaded moment of your Chromebook running flat smack-bang in the middle of a test and losing all your precious tabs. Possibly more clocks in classrooms, so you can efficiently time tests, or count down the minutes until recess. Maybe you believe you could lead an awesome club that will benefit others with the same interests and ideas. Obviously, these suggestions aren’t guaranteed, however, the Junior School Captain team is working tirelessly to make sure all of your ideas are heard. East Campus, we’re all ears!

Thanks to a suggestion form the Junior School Captains will put together shortly, all of your ideas could be heard in order to make the McKinnon East Campus a better place for us, the other years to come and all visitors and guests. The form is completely anonymous and will be located in the Years 8 and 9 Google Classrooms for quick and easy access. Simply fill out the form, and we’ll try our best to put your ideas into action.

We appreciate and look forward to seeing your ideas.
