Annual Christmas Giving

Monday 29th November

As you would be aware, due to COVID-19 restrictions we are unable to hold our annual House Carols Church Services. However, in the spirit of preserving the school tradition of supporting those in need, we wish to continue the ritual of donating Christmas gifts to each of the churches where our Carols services are usually held.

The annual donation of gifts from staff, and students in Prep to Year 11, is a long-standing Girton tradition. Each year, more than 1,000 gifts are placed at church altars during House Carols and donated to St Vincent de Paul, St Luke’s, Bendigo Baptist Community Care and Bendigo Uniting Church Outreach Appeal.

This year again, there are thousands of families in Bendigo in need and giving trees will be set up in the Junior School and the Senior School for students and staff to donate unwrapped gifts. On Monday 29th November, Senior School students and staff are invited to leave a gift in the Gymnasium at a time to be advised by House Tutors. On Wednesday 1st December, Junior School students and staff will be allocated a time to donate an unwrapped present under a Christmas tree in the Junior School.

This is one of Bendigo’s biggest Christmas giving events and a uniquely Girton community service. In what has been a challenging year, we are grateful for any contribution that you may be in a position to make at this time.
