Bennett Shield

In Term 4, the Grade 5/6 students participated in the Bennett Shield competition. Students competed in house teams and versed the other teams in a number of different sports and modified games such as Basketball, Tee-Ball, Softcrosse, Tangam, Cannon Ball and Elimination (a Kalinda favourite).

Points were rewarded at the end of each round. House teams received 4 points for a match won, 2 points for a drawn match and 0 points for a match lost.

It is my great pleasure to announce that the winning House for 2021 is MELBA!

Well done to Melba house and well done to all the Grade 5/6 students for showing great effort and excellent sportsmanship.

Throughout the competition, many students received a good sports award. These awards were presented by teachers at the end of each round to acknowledge great sportsmanship. These students were then invited to play in a staff vs students match which was held just this week, with the students taking the win over the teachers. Well done students!!!

Victorian State Basketball

I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Liam K, who has successfully made the U14 Boys Victorian State Basketball Team.

This is a huge achievement.

To qualify, Liam was first invited to the trials based on outstanding skill performance recognised by the Victorian Basketball Association. From here he competed in several different tryouts against hundreds of highly skilled players. He successfully progressed from one trial to another. Just last week he competed in the final tryout, he was informed this week that he has made the final team, and will be playing as part of the U14 Victorian State Basketball team.

To play at this level of competition, Liam has trained and worked so hard to continue to improve his skills and game sense, applying excellent effort, determination and commitment.

We wish Liam all the best and look forward to hearing how he goes.

Well done Liam!
