Principal's report

Mr Shaun McClare

I would like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which Kalinda Primary school gathers, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. I would like to pay my respects to their elders past, present, and emerging.

Merry Christmas and a Happy  New Year

I would like to wish everyone in our community a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I hope you and your families can celebrate the end of 2021 in a safe, joyful, and special way.

Thank you to everyone in our community for making the most of a challenging year and finding the positives in every situation.

I'm looking forward to 2022 with a sense of hope and a commitment to continuing to support wellbeing and academic outcomes for all students at Kalinda.

Please see Lauren's Assistant Principal Page for our 2022 classes.

Graduating Class of 2021

I would like to take this opportunity to wish our Graduating class of 2021 all the best in the future. We look forward to seeing the many successes you have, the impact you can make on our local community and the world, and I wish you all the best in the ups and downs that life throws at everyone. You have been a great year level to work with, incredibly resilient, full of optimism and humour and I believe that you are all capable of achieving great things in life if you approach them with dedication, passion, and hard work.

I would also like to take this chance to thank the Graduation committee and all the parents who have contributed to the ceremony this week.

Thank you

I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone for the contributions you have made to the school this year. There are too many people to list, so if you have contributed in any way then thank you so much!!

I would like to mention the huge contributions made by School Council and sub-committee members this year. Tom Keegan has done a great job as School Council President. Thank you Tom.

The Parents and Friends Association has also done an incredible job this year, connecting our community and ensuring we can have fun, despite the limitations that have been in place. I really hope a lot more events can go ahead in 2022.

Thank you to those who volunteered to complete surveys, provide feedback and join working parties. One of these Working Parties was to work on the Reconciliation Action Plan for the school. This is something I am looking forward to reconvening with great vigour in Term 1 of next year.

Thank you to all of our staff here at school. Everyone's role plays a huge part in the culture we create and the care we show our students (gardening with students, mowing the lawns, looking after sickbay, managing the finances, supporting our students, teaching our students, supporting and extending learning, cooking for us every day and being the best school crossing guard in the country - thanks Pete!).

Finally, thank you to all of the parents, grandparents, older siblings, aunties, and uncles who have supported Remote Learning at home. It has not been an easy job whilst managing work and family commitments and I truly appreciate the great job you all did.
