Wellbeing Day

Recently, St. Bridget’s hosted a Wellbeing day for all the students to celebrate the end of remote learning. The children worked so well over the two Terms we were in remote learning and it was a very difficult time for everyone involved. We wanted to give a big thank you to all the students who worked so well and also to the parents who supported us and their children. It was also wonderful to have our pre-prep students join us for the morning.

The Wellbeing day was a big success. We had children split up into groups made up of children of every year level. There were five groups and five activities. The students spent forty minutes at each activity and then rotated to the next one. Each activity was led by a staff member. We had the following amazing activities:

Two jumping castles with Tom Brophy and Anita Pereira.

If you look closely you may see an extra child (aka Mrs Thomson) inside the bouncy house.

Sports games and activities with Sophie Brugliera and Jack Cirillo.

An animal farm run by an attendant named Rebecca and Gina Chiodo, with a large range of animals such as bunnies, goats, chickens, turtles, geese, ducks and lambs.

An art activity run by Gina Michieli, Margie Maher and Nicki Durrant where the students made art using paint and pasta.

Finally, Geraldine Nicholas ran a STEM activity. For those who are not familiar with STEM, it stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

The students made hoop gliders out of straw and two paper hoops. They had to cut, assemble and then fly the glider. They were then challenged to make modifications and inquire if the flight of the glider was different.

If that wasn’t enough, a few of amazing parents cooked a BBQ lunch for the children with sausages and burgers together with a juice box and icy pole. A big thank you to Leanne Lewis, Kellie Meddings, Alan Neuss and Fiona Singleton for such a fantastic lunch.

We finished off the day with a visit from the charismatic and wacky, Tim Credible, a magician with a pet dragon. Tim put on an incredible comedy and magic show for the whole school. He had both children and adults laughing out loud. Now we know why he goes by Tim Credible.

It filled my heart with joy to hear the laughter from all the children finally back on school grounds. It has been such a long time since we have all been together and we really missed seeing all the smiling faces of the children.

I would like to end by saying that this could not have been possible without the hard work of all the teachers and staff at St. Bridget’s, especially our beautiful principal Robyn Thomson and the amazing Talia Loarson and Loredana Schwartz who put together the whole day. It was a fantastic day and I know that it was enjoyed by all. Thank you so much.

Kind Regards
