Junior School News - Term 1 Week 2, 2022

The first week of the 2022 school year has certainly flown by and it is my hope that all boys have enjoyed their start to Term 1! The Junior School has been alive with movement and laughter as the boys have quickly settled into their new surroundings and begun a variety of academic and co-curricular programs. All things considered, the year has started quite smoothly, and it is most pleasing to hear the sounds of activity both within and outside of the classrooms each day.

Whilst we have had a small number of students impacted by COVID-19 and currently isolating at home, I am confident that the numerous safety measures and precautions we have implemented at school are working. Please be assured that if your son is required to isolate at home, our teachers are doing everything they can to support him and to provide a high-quality online learning experience.

A friendly reminder that all families are currently required to ensure their son/s conduct a mandatory Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) on Sunday and Wednesday evening each week. If a positive result is recorded, parents are asked to please notify the College Principal, Dr Vittoria Lavorato by email at principal@spc.nsw.edu.au, so that appropriate arrangements can be put in place for your son during his isolation period. Our school is as safe as it can possibly be, and I am grateful for your support of our endeavours to keep the boys at school and minimise any disruption to their learning.

Nothing beats an on-campus learning experience, a sentiment heartily supported by all of the boys who are loving spending time with their new teachers and friends each day. I am similarly delighted to see so many boys playing summer sport this term. Round 1 of our IPSHA interschool competition kicks off this weekend and I would like to wish all the boys involved in this the very best of luck for their first games of the year!

Next Tuesday evening, 15 February, all parents are warmly invited to join us for our online Parent Information Evening. The Year 5 session will be held from 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM, whilst the Year 6 session will take place from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Both sessions will be held via Teams and the relevant links will be sent to parents in the coming days. We look forward to holding these valuable information sessions as we seek to ensure the line of communication between home and school is firmly established, and also remains strong over the course of the year ahead.

As a staff, we are looking forward to working with your boys, in partnership with you, to make the most of their time at St Patrick’s College in 2022. In light of this, please refer to the list below outlining all specialist teachers and their relevant email address, should you need to contact a member of our staff.
