12C - Around the Traps

Josh Carr

Literacy

This week we have been working on tenses noticing things that have happened in the past and the language authors use to describe these events.  In Writing, we are learning how to write different types of poems.  We have learnt that poetry is anything that expresses ideas or feelings with style.  We have completed Acrostic poems, a class I Wonder poem, Colour poems, Diamanté poems, Dylan Thomas Portraits, Alliteration Poems and this week Cinquains.

Maths

Maths focus this week is skip counting.  We have been making it tricky on ourselves by starting from any number and then counting on by 2s, 5s and 10s.

Inquiry

Our Inquiry Unit this term is about Stimulating Science. Students will consider changes that we experience in our lives through the lens of four different branches of science including; biology, earth and space science, chemistry, and physics. They will make predictions and scientific observations as they conduct experiments. Each student will show what they have learnt by identifying 'science' in their house and recording their understanding of each branch of science.

RE (Religious Education)

Our RE Unit is focusing on prayer and how we can talk to God in many different ways. Students are being helped to understand that prayer is an expression of God’s relationship with each of us and that we can pray for different reasons such as prayers of praise, thanks, forgiveness and petition.
