Art Department 

Monivae College Art Department recently received a package from the Australian Centre for Contemporary Arts to support a learning endeavour in the classroom. 

The project included looking at the artwork of contemporary aboriginal artist, Peter Waples-Crowe, and then emulating his style of work, using stencils and collage to create layers of imagery, communicating personal themes and ideas. ACCA provided a box of materials and guidelines for the project, as well as educational videos and information on their website, which were shown and used in the classroom. 

Our three Year 8 Art classes worked enthusiastically on their personal ideas and interests within the mediums taught and provided. Here are some examples of their work. We are in discussion with Hamilton Art Gallery about exhibiting some of these works, and some from the new year, with an invitation to Peter Waples-Crowe and ACCA to visit for opening.
