Instrument Returns
All College owned instruments should have been returned to the Music department so that they can be cleaned and serviced for next year. If your student still has an instrument at home, could you please return it to Reception as soon as possible.
New instruments
Recently we have taken delivery of many new Yamaha musical instruments. We now have new flutes, clarinets, trumpets, saxophones, a full-size xylophone and a new drum kit to name a few!
Whilst this will assist the year 7’s by replacing some of the older instruments that are used in the Year Seven Band program, it also means that there are now enough instruments for students outside year 7 music who would also like to learn an instrument to be able to hire one for lessons within our music program.
Concert Band and lessons
As restrictions and remote learning made Concert Band rehearsals difficult this year, it would be great to see more players join this ensemble next year. Larger ensembles provide a great opportunity for musical development and they also provide a great social opportunity for students to get to know other musicians from other year levels. We plan to play concerts within our local community and here at school and to do this, we need more musicians. This is an inclusive ensemble and the only requirement is that you have learnt your instrument for a term before commencing. Concert Band will rehearse on Monday’s next year and more information regarding times will be available at the beginning of the year.
After the success of our subsidised lessons, we are again able to offer music lessons to students on a range of instruments at very affordable rates. We offer lessons on a range of instruments and in most cases these can be paired lessons or individual lessons. If your student is interested in learning an instrument or you would like more information about the program, please email ahoulihan@monivae.vic.edu.au.
