Congratulations Class of 2020

Despite the challenging year, many students from the Class of 2020 are well on their way to pursuing their goals. Some students have found work or apprenticeships, while currently, 93% of DSC students who applied for courses through VTAC have received offers during January and February to commence further study – congratulations!

With three VTAC Offer Rounds for domestic students still to be completed, we wish all students every success in the next step of their career journey.

REMINDER - students can collect their VCAL or VCE Certificates from the Senior School Office

Doncaster Careers

As we start the new school year, students and parents are encouraged to make use of the information, links and resources that are available on the Doncaster Careers website. Each week, Career News will be published on the website and a notification made via Compass. These newsletters contain information on courses and events that can assist students to make informed future decisions. Having a sense of what the next step beyond secondary school might be and what is required to achieve career goals, can help to reduce study stress and provide a sense of purpose and direction through the year. Any career questions can be directed to the Careers Team in the Senior Centre Office.

Year 10 Careers Experience 2021

Careers Experience Handbook packs have now been provided to all Year 10 students. There is a wealth of information regarding the Careers Experience program that will support students with their planning. Inside the packs are the Work Experience Arrangement Forms as well as COVID Safe information. Now is the time if you haven’t already, to start planning and making connections with prospective employers. Students who have part-time jobs already should not be looking at those employers for their work experience. This is an opportunity to research and look into the career paths that may be of interest to you beyond secondary school.

In 2020 due to COVID, many students were not able to participate in face to face work experience so the school in conjunction with “The Careers Department” ran a Virtual Careers Experience program for those students who were unable to attend their placement. Hopefully, all students will be able to participate in their work placements face to face in 2021, but the school will be prepared to make alternate arrangements if COVID places restrictions again.

Look to network with family and friends to access possible careers experience opportunities as well as contacting businesses and employers in our local area.

Once a placement has been confirmed, please return completed Work Experience Arrangement Forms to the Senior Centre where there is a box marked “Work Experience Forms.

Careers Experience for Year 10 students is a valuable and compulsory curriculum activity that all students are required to participate in.
