Voice of Australia Chinese Recitation

The famous words of a great actor Arnold Schwarzenegger “I’m back.” It’s great to report that at the end of 2020 the Year 7 student Nicole (Jiahang) LI won the highest award in the Voice of Australia Chinese recitation competition. What a wonderful achievement for the College and our (now) Year 8 student.

Congratulations Nicole. Anything is achievable when you put your mind to it. 2021 is a new year – we wish nothing but success for all students.

Interestingly, in Chinese mythology, this year is the year of the ox. A beast of strength and power who never gives up and pushes forward until he succeeds.

STUDENT REFLECTION

I come from China and I really love learning Chinese. I think this recitation competition for me was a good chance to improve my language skills.
The competition has three stages: preliminary, semi-final and final. I chose two of my favourite poetries to recite for the first two stages and an interesting animated film to make movie reviews for the final.

Everything is amazing in that competition, I really enjoy reciting. It is a good chance to make me better and make me more confident. Although last year was a difficult year, all of us passed successfully. So I believe we can be better and better.
