Health Centre News

We hope everyone is having a great start to the new school year!

It is at this time of the year we like to remind everyone that all students who have been diagnosed with anaphylaxis, asthma, allergies, diabetes or epilepsy, need to have the relevant Action Plans supplied to the Health Centre.  These plans are to be completed by a Medical Practioner and updated every 12 months as per The Department of Education guidelines. Students are unable to attend camps without this updated paperwork. Action Plans can be provided by the Health Centre or downloaded in the Documents section of Compass.

Please note if a student’s allergy requires treatment with an antihistamine please ensure this medication is supplied to the Health Centre. We are unable to provide students with any school supplied medication.

We would also like to continue to remind everyone the importance of staying home if you are feeling unwell. While we are able to enjoy some degree of normality at the moment we all need to stay vigilant and continue to be alert to the signs and symptoms of COVID 19.

If a student or staff member have any of the symptoms of COVID-19 outlined below, however mild, they will be sent home.

  • fever
  • chills or sweats
  • cough
  • sore throat
  • shortness of breath
  • runny nose
  • loss of sense of smell or taste.

Lastly just a reminder to all Year 7 and 10 students, consents for the upcoming immunisation sessions need to be completed electronically as per Knox City Councils request. Links to the immunisation consents have been provided on Compass. The consent must be completed and returned via the link, regardless of whether the student is being vaccinated or not.

Please feel free to contact us in the Health Centre on 9881 7125 or health@wantirnacollege.vic.edu.au  should you have any student health concerns, questions, or medical updates.

Take care everyone!

Melissa & Julie.
