2020 WE MADE IT!!!!

Dear Primary families

I want to thank you all for your perseverance throughout the 2020 school year. We overcame many obstacles and endured much change. We worked as a team here at Collingwood College in order to support the teaching and learning for all the wonderful students. That team effort extended into your homes, where many of you became the teachers, and this collective efficacy helped to shape the year that was.

The students came back onsite in Term 4 with a greater sense of connection to their school community. The importance of our school as a physical place, became paramount to all. It made me reflect on the fact that school isn’t just for learning, its also a place for community and connectivity. It’s a place where students can be part of a group and feel a sense of identity.

Many have voiced their sadness around losing some important community based events in 2020 like our wonderful Winter Solstice, Spring Fair, Art Exhibition and Graduation ceremonies. I know there are more events to add to that list! I would like to highlight that the loss was also a gain in many ways.

We gained more in-depth channels for communicating with each other, we gained a greater understanding of how our students learn and what their capabilities are, we gained the ability to reflect and take time out and importantly we gained confidence in being able to evolve.

I am proud of how we all adapted and pivoted in the face of change.

We still managed to run a successful Prep and Year 7 transition program, we adapted  creatively to present the Steiner class plays, we hosted the Year 12 valedictory dinner online and supported a lovely graduation ceremony for our Year 6 students.

2020 certainly encompassed all of our values:

Diversity, Creativity, Innovation, Relationships and Achievement

I’d like to finish by wishing you all a lovely restful break. I look forward to working with you all in 2021.

Take care and stay safe

3-4 REGGIO had a celebratory solar boats finale on Friday. After designing and building their boats they were able to test them out with the solar panels in their little 'pond'.

SHOES FOR SPORT & P.E.

For their safety, ALL students should wear 'closed-toe' shoes for sport / P.E. classes. Sandals, thongs and bare feet are not suitable. Runners are recommended for indoor and outdoor classes.
