ORIENTATION DAY TUESDAY DECEMBER 8TH

Orientation Day for all students in on Tuesday December 8th.  The purpose of Orientation Day is to give all students a positive experience in meeting their new teacher and class mates for 2021. Teachers have carefully placed students into classes after considering a multitude of factors.  We ask that all families be positive and reinforce that 2021 will be an exciting year, the language you use with your child will steer how they feel about next year and you can help them feel excited about their next step in their learning journey.  At 3:00PM on the same day, parents will be sent an email and a letter from the teacher indicating your child’s new class.

FRIENDSHIP GARDEN

Our Friendship Garden project is nearly complete; we just need to add fresh mulch around the plants.

I want to acknowledge and thank Families and Friends for initiating this project and our Visual Arts teacher, Ms Cirillo for facilitating the art work and installation of the rocks.  Ms Cirillio was assisted by Graeme our maintenance person, the two of them spent the weekend arranging the rocks in the garden.

The Friendship Garden will be an everlasting memento of the year 2020 and a reminder to all students that we are all friends.

SCHOOL REVIEW

Last week the school undertook its school review. All schools are under a review every four years.  During the review process, the panel had rich discussions with teachers, parents and students as well as visiting classrooms and seeing students and teachers in action.  A report of the findings will be presented to School Council in the coming week and will be made available early next year to the school community.  We use directions from the review report to collaboratively develop the next four-year academic strategic plan.  I want to take this opportunity of thanking the panel members for their input to direction of the school:

Craig Tanner – School reviewer and retired principal

Coralee Pratt – School Improvement Education Leader

Esme Capp- Principal of Princess Hill (Challenge Partner)

Professor Sandra Milligan – Melbourne University (Challenge Partner)

Matt Vines – Assistant Principal

Paul Dobney – Learning Specialist
