Middle School News

Year 7 to 9

Well the big ticket item this term so far has been the Middle School ANZAC assembly and of course this weeks first round of City Experience for Year 9s.

The ANZAC assembly was conducted in a most respectful and commemorative manner. It makes me proud to see the way the students listened to all the speeches and the way they honoured those who fought and died, through the respect they demonstrated throughout. Thank you to our Middle School Leadership Team, Shaun, Haim, Vrinda and Abhishek. Once again these students have demonstrated the strong leadership qualities that EDSC students possess by organising and running this sacred annual event. Thank you and well done to all involved.

City Experience: This last week the majority of students from 9A – E have been participating in many different tours and activities in the CBD. The learning from these activities is valuable, however, the skills that students learn, especially problem solving skills, whilst navigating themselves in their groups to each activity is invaluable. This is definitely one of the highlights of the year for all Year 9 students who attend, made even more special this year by the fact that this event was cancelled this time last year.

A number of different activities that students have participated in this year include, the amazing race, visit to Parliament House, a tour of the Shrine of Remembrance, Sea Life Aquarium, Queen Vic Market the MCG and some cultural tours. In all instances students have been respectful towards each other, staff and tour guides and the reputation of the College has been upheld to the highest of standards. I would also like to thank the weather for putting on a show, especially considering the groups have met outside in the mornings. It has just been perfect so far as you can see by some of the photos.

I look forward to Week 5 when the rest of the Year 9 cohort begins their CBD experience. I hope that both the weather and the students behaviour meet the same lofty standards as the first group.

College Charges 2021

East Doncaster Secondary College Council would like to thank you for your support of the College as we endeavour to provide the best possible education for your child.

In order to provide quality programs and a comfortable and efficient learning environment for our students, the College relies on strong support from the College community. The College Charges are designed to supplement the Government’s allocation to schools to provide materials and services. These charges enable us to enrich and extend the learning experiences of our students in each subject. Please find attached the explanatory Parent Payments Parent Letter and Parent Payment Policy. 2021 College Charges are now available for parents to pay on Compass.

Please note that there is no additional charge incurred if paying online via Compass.

1 to 1 Digital Learning Program 2021

In 2021 we will continue with our whole school 1 to 1 Digital Learning Program for all students.

Our Year 7 and 10 students will be required to purchase a laptop, Year 8, 9, 11 and 12 students will continue with their laptop from 2020.  The purchase of these devices is crucial to the learning program as students will access eBooks rather than an extensive number of expensive textbooks.

Details of the 1 to 1 Digital Learning Program for all students and important information regarding suitable devices are detailed in the attached policy.

Student Compass ID/Library/PTV  Cards
