Co-curricular - Junior Sport

Last week, the Junior School Cross Country team journeyed out to the Kings School for the IPSHA Cross Country Carnival. The bus trip over was full of excitement, energy and just the odd bit of nervous tension. Due to the postponement of the carnival in Term 1, the boys had a few extra miles under their belts so were well prepared for the day.

Faced with a course that was a little more cross than country, the boys all took to the start line in turn to race. The 12s started the day, followed by the 11s and 10s. All boys did well in their respective events. Just finishing a cross country can be reward enough. Most of the boys finished in the front half of the field. A special mention must go to Preston Antunes, who finished third in the 12s race. An outstanding effort. Preston will represent IPSHA at the NSWCIS Carnival in June.

It was fantastic to have a clean start to the winter season, with all teams able to participate. The results were outstanding for the Junior School. Most teams came away from the round with a win and in some cases they were emphatic. The signs certainly look good for a competitive winter season. With more wins in the foreseeable future, I would encourage all Junior School boys to learn the College War Cry. It can be found in the front of the school diary. This way, we can celebrate each victory with a rousing rendition at the conclusion of each game.

With the season underway and training occurring throughout the week, boys are reminded of their responsibilities regarding their attire when traveling home after training. Boys catching public transport or walking home, are to change into their black supporter’s shirt, black shorts, white socks and runners. If it is cold, the College tracksuit should be worn. Failing this, the boys should change back into their College uniform, with their blazer. Consequences will be issued to boys not following these rules.

A reminder to Parents, Carers and boys to turn their attention to the Junior School Fixtures and Cancellation page on TeamApp for the weekly draw information. This page will show up to date fixture information. Changes occur weekly and differ to the draft draw, usually in time, but on occasions, locations change as well. On this page, addresses for each field can also be found.

I look forward to an exciting Round 2 of winter sport this weekend and wish all the boys and coaches the best of luck.
