Can you help? Careers presenters needed

Year 10 Careers event: share your experience

On Tuesday 16th of May we will be hosting a Year 10 Careers Program during Periods 1-3 to assist students with their course counselling and future pathway decisions. We’d love parents and other members of our community to get involved.

During the event we will be hosting career workshops, which is where you can help.

Students will attend two different workshops focused on careers/industries of their interest.  Students will hear about the person’s career background and the skills and knowledge required and/or suitable for their career or industry. Students will also participate in an activity as a representation of what is required in the career or industry.

How you can help

We are looking for 12-16 different presenters.

The gig:

Run 2 x 30min workshops as per guidelines below on the morning of the event, you’ll need to

be here around 11.00 am (timing to be confirmed)

  • 10 min discussion on career background and the skills and knowledge required and/or suitable for the career or industry
  • 10 – 15 min activity for students that represents what is required in the career or industry (we can assist with ideas and/or any resources for this)
  • 5 min questions from the group

Clarification – you will run the same 30-min workshop TWICE – for two different groups. Students will be asked to sign up to two different workshops, and there’s a five minute changeover in the middle.

Workshops will finish by 12.40pm.

You are also invited to stay after the event finishes for light refreshments with the other presenters and staff members.
