Student success stories

NHS students excel in the community
Congratulations to the following students who are excelling in their fields well beyond the school. We love to celebrate student success outside of, as well as in, school. Please keep letting us know about your child's achievements.
State Schools Spectacular
The Department of Education and Training’s Performing Arts Unit auditioned students from across the state for this year’s Victorian State Schools Spectacular.
These students have secured roles in this year’s Spectacular core performing company and are commendable ambassadors for performing arts at our school.
Choir: Katrina Rotunno, Patrizia Rotunno
String Musicians: Greta McNab, Layla Maitri
Production crew: Antonia Coutts, Hamish Larkin
The Spectacular will be performed twice on Saturday 16 September at Hisense Arena, followed by a 90-minute broadcast on Channel 7 and made available on the PLUS7 catch-up website. Rehearsals have commenced for this year’s production which will showcase more than 3000 Victorian government school students in a performance of music, song, dance, skating, puppetry and magic.
Tennis: Peter Koutsouroupas
During the recent school holidays Peter played in the 2017 IMG Discovery Open Qualifier Tennis tournament. As a result of his performances during that time, Peter has been given automatic entry into the tournament in Bradenton, Florida in May this year. He is a talented young player.
This is a prestige tournament and only a few selected players are able to play this event. Nick Bollettieri, the tennis legend, will be assessing all players during the tournament and one player may be awarded a full scholarship for one year (value AUD$100,000) to the Academy to study and learn the finer points of tennis.
Congratulations to Peter and good luck for the tournament!
Surf Lifesaving: Sarah Robinson
During March Sarah visited Queensland for the National Surf Life Saving Competition held on the Gold Coast. Sarah and her team came second (silver) in 5 person rescue and resuscitation. This was the first time the team has been to Nationals - they recently came first in the Victorian State Carnival. This has been an amazing achievement for a group of girls who only started training 6 months ago. Congratulations Sarah on your hard work and achievement.
