Health and Safety training

On 30th March, Year 10 international students took their annual Health and Safety Training Session run by school Wellbeing Team and local police officer. The aim of this session is not only to raise international students’ awareness about health and safety but also to promote a healthy lifestyle. The session includes a variety of health and safety themes including nutrition, disease prevention, physical growth and development, reproduction, mental health, drug and alcohol abuse prevention, consumer health, and safety (crossing streets, riding bikes, first aid, and emergency contact number). The students thoroughly enjoyed the session and have gained a lot of valuable knowledge. The school community truly appreciates our school nurse Jessica Kelly for running the session over the years and local police officer’s input. Their expertise is much appreciated.

Harmony Day

On 21st March we celebrated HARMONY DAY at Northcote High School. It was a celebration of our cultural diversity – a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home. International students played a key role in this vibrant event.

In supporting school’s harmony day activity, International students wrote anti-discrimination and celebrating diversity slogan in chalk and shared stories about their country of origin. Wen Dan played Gu Zheng (the traditional Chinese String instrument) and Chang Zhao Wen Hui performed a Chinese long sleeve dance—Jing Hong Dance.
