At the tournament: thinking hard
On March 20th Northcote High School's Chess team went to a Chess Tournament at Australian International Academy. We won the overall competition with an outstanding score. Both our junior and senior teams qualified for the State Chess Championships to be held at Brighton Grammar later in the year. Special recognition to Thomas Leou and Jack Puccini who won 7 out of 7 matches. Lewis Tan of Year 7 also won 5 out of 7 games.
Thanks to AIA for a wonderful venue and putting on a fantastic event where everyone was happy to compete.
Jack Puccini, Chess Grand Master, who coaches Lewis Tan, was recently seen giving Arnie Schwarzneger some tips on chess and conditioning the mind!
