Feedback and assessment: partnering in your child's learning

Feedback and Assessment on myNorthcoteHigh
We know that families have an important role to play in supporting student learning. Formal feedback to students is a crucial point of reflection and conversation for students and families. The recently released Leaning Behaviour Reports and an example of this, as is Ongoing Assessment Feedback.
Feedback on assessment needs to be timely, so that students have sufficient opportunity to use the feedback for improving subsequent performance. Teachers give students regular feedback on their progress. Due to teaching and learning sequences vary from subject to subject so it is important to note that feedback will be available at different times.
Families are encouraged to partner with us and access information about their child’s progress and performance through the myNorthcoteHigh portal regularly and discuss it with their child. You should receive a notification from myNorthcoteHigh when new feedback is available. There is a good opportunity now to check in and see what feedback has been made available based on work done in Term 1, and also to look ahead to the due dates for upcoming tasks, CATs and SACs regularly.
If you have any questions about your child’s progress or questions arising from the feedback available, please contact the appropriate teacher or your Year Level Program Leaders.
