Performing Arts

Drama, Dance and Music

Welcome back to the performing arts page and what a great start to Term 2 we have had in these spaces! It is a busy term ahead as we prepare for the event GALA on the 17th of June from 4-6pm, please mark it in your diary as it would be great to see as many faces from our families and friends in the community.

In our music space students are completing compositions in Years 9 & 10, our Year 7’s have just begun their time on the keyboards learning a piece of music, and our Year 8’s have just finished their oral presentations about a band/solo artist of their choosing. One of our artists that we work with Luis Poblete & Miss Haddon visited Belle Vue Park Primary school and ran a drumming workshop with a grade 4/5 class the pictures from this are below. The students thoroughly enjoyed this and it is a great way to continue to make connections with our wider community.

Another primary school that we have partnered with in the performing arts space is Moomba Park, once a week we are running a performing arts club there with the first few weeks having attendance of over 40 students. Our instrumental program is also going extremely well and our band is now rehearsing every Wednesday lunchtime and will also be performing at GALA.

Our drama and dance spaces also continue to be a hive of activity with students learning new skills each lesson. As teachers we are always so encouraged by our students who continue to take risks in these subjects and to step outside their comfort zones!.

We also have another state wide project that we are part of and will be able to properly announce in the next newsletter, it is an exciting opportunity and we can’t wait to let the community know!
