MOBILE PHONE REMINDER
It has been pleasing to note that as term 1 progressed students were more able to adapt to the required JFC routines that were not present for part of the 2020 school year due to the remote learning period.
However, it is an opportunity to remind both students and parents of two processes that may need further explanation.
Victorian State Schools have banned the use of student mobile phone use due to the potential of disruption to learning and bullying issues. This means that from the moment students enter the front gate until the end of the day they are not to access their phones. All teachers have been instructed to confiscate a student phone if seen and store in one of the school safes for collection at the end of the day. If parents need to contact students during the day this can be done via the front office.
Students are required to attend all classes and must stay in the classroom for the entire lesson to ensure that their learning is maximised and the teacher is able to ensure their safety. Recently there has been instances of some students leaving classes without permission, which is unacceptable. If a student does need to leave class for a valid reason, they are required to ask the teacher who will complete an out of class pass, which must be carried with the student whilst out of class.
Unfortunately, some students are consistently not following the above processes which will result in after school detentions.
Can I please ask parents to discuss the above processes with students and to contact JFC if any clarification is required.
LUNCHTIME ACTIVITY
A meeting will be held in the near future to put in place processes that will be followed on Friday lunchtimes that will enable interested students to be involved in supervised indoor soccer sessions in the hall. JFC anticipate this will be a popular activity amongst many of our students but numbers will be limited.
ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
During week 1 of term 2, students had the opportunity to participate in the whole school Athletics Carnival that took place at the Meadowglen International Sports Stadium. All in all it was a beautiful day and student participation was fantastic! Thorpe took the win for the day!
Congratulations to all students who collected points for their house. Below are some photos from the day:
