Portable Basketball/Netball Rings
Do you or someone you know have a portable basketball ring or netball ring at home that is no longer being used? We would love to take it off your hands! Contact Mrs Curtois if you can help or know someone who can.
ART FOR WELLBEING
The whole school focus for this term is all about feeling happy and calm through Nature Art, which ties in nicely with Environmental Studies. By incorporating nature into art projects, it will foster creativity and enhance positive feelings.
We will explore a range of art making activities using the natural environment as both a source of materials as well as inspiration.
The Junior School enjoyed the simple pleasure of placing 'nature treasures' down on a mat and taking a photo of their artwork. The Year 1's and 2's used the stamping technique to instantly create different botanical pictures.
The Middle School experimented with Gel Plate Printing to create effects and composition. Inspired by the Australian Printmaker, Kim Herringe, students enjoyed the printmaking process using a variety of autumn leaves and other found objects.
The Senior School also explored the natural environment through the techniques of Gel Plate Printing as well as watercolour painting. Even Mrs Corcoran experienced the therapeutic art lesson and produced amazing art work!
Environmental Studies
The Foundation and Year 1 and 2 students have been busy creating some fascinating nature masks. We first went out and collected our items and then began building, the results are wonderful!
Our Year 3 and 4 students have been learning how to julienne vegetables and make sushi. I was very impressed with their skills, especially the rolling up part!
Year 5 and 6 students were visited by Charlotte and Sally from the Royal Botanic Gardens who spoke to them about the Southern Brown Bandicoot. We are very lucky to have them with us as we begin our journey creating our very own wildlife corridor at school.
